Carlos Mà ©ndez David Differentiating between Market Structures In this simulation, the learner studies the cost and revenue curves in different market structures perfect competition, monopoly, monopolistic competition, or oligopoly faced by a freight transportation company, and makes decisions to maximize profits or to minimize losses. Given this demand curve and their cost structures, sellers try to produce an output at which they can maximize profits. Profit is maximized for each seller at the output where marginal revenue (MR) equals marginal cost (MC). This is the output at which the difference between total revenue and total cost is the maximum. In perfect competition, price equals marginal revenue for each seller. This is because the fixed price per unit is the revenue for each seller. This is because the fixed price per unit is the revenue that the seller can expect to earn by selling an additional unit of output. Thus, the profit-maximizing condition becomes PMR=MC. Given the Consumer Goods Division’s cost structures, you are incurring losses at every level of output you can produce. However, you are still able to recover your variable costs by continuing operations. If you were to stop production, you would incur losses equal to your fixed costs, which are higher than if you were to continue production. Therefore, it is better for you to continue operations. You will notice that the average variable cost (AVC) curv e lies below the price for most output levels, while the average total cost (ATC) curve lies above the price. This shows that at the market price, you are able to cover your variable costs, but not your fixed costs. The Incorporation of the Human Right Act into British Law The Human Rights Act came in force in 2000 and has been successful in UK. This is because after a year Michael Beloff QC pointed out in The Times that 15% of the cases brought in the high court with Human Rights Act implication had been successful. The Act has the effect of in cooperating the European convention on Human Rights into British law. The home secretary Jack Straw said â€Å"these are the new rights for the new millennium. This means that if it passes a statute which is against the Human Rights Act, there is nothing the courts can do about it. This is because parliament is superior to the Human Rights Act. This is a very great weakness for the judiciary. The process of appealing on a right issue will be cheaper and quicker then the use of the European Court of Human Rights, that the parliament may enforce the act against the government. But parliament could also appeal the act in the future so it does not bound forever. The Human Rights Act is huge step forward in protecting rights, as great as the extension of the franchise in 1932. Furthermore, cases will be dealt with more quickly than with the European convention on Human Rights. It is bound to be cheaper because citizens will not have to go aboard to obtain justice. Answer: Role of manager for Marie After analysing the case study it has been observed that for the case of Marie the employee was newly joined within the organisation and she has less experience in the practical field of working. Due to the lack of experience in the workplace the individual might feel less confident about their job roles. When I take the bus to school you see a varietyu of different cutures on the bus and everone sits with everyone and gets along fine. African Americans don’t have to sit in the back they can sit where ever they want freely. Whites now sit in the back when ever they want and they give up their seats for African Americans if they want its just nice manners.
